They are separate to Planning Permission and will often be required even if Planning is not. Building Regulations ensure that the environment in which we all live is a safe and healthy place.
Meeting the Regulations
The Building Regulations includes technical guidance called the "Approved Documents." These are split into parts A to P, and tackle a wide range of constructional issues.
Drawings for building regulations need to show detailed construction information. As well as floor plans and elevations these will include sections, services plans, details, structural calculations and construction notes. Basically, the information required by a builder to build the works. We strongly advise clients to use this level of information when obtaining prices from builders.
